Built in the UK for trades who'd rather be on the tools
SortedMate is a job management app for UK trade businesses: enquiries, quotes, jobs and invoices in one place. Here's why it exists, what it is today and who's behind it.
Why it exists
It started with watching good trades do bad admin
The businesses that inspired SortedMate were busy ones, the kind that get recommended. And their admin was a mess. Quotes worked out on the back of a receipt. Invoices chased by text, days after the job. Enquiries arriving on WhatsApp and disappearing under the next fifty messages.
None of that was a skills problem. It was an admin problem, and the software on offer was either built for big firms with an office manager or built for everyone in general and nobody in particular.
SortedMate is the answer to a simpler question: what would this look like if it was built for one trade business, on one phone, by someone who'd seen the receipts?
What it is today
A live app, early days, no invented numbers
SortedMate is live. The first trade businesses are running on it now, and the roadmap is decided by what they ask for rather than a feature list dreamt up in a meeting.
It's early days and we'd rather say that than make up testimonials or customer counts. If something doesn't work the way your trade works, you can tell the person who built it and it'll get looked at properly.
Principles
Four things that don't change
- 01
Simple beats complicated
Every feature has to earn its place. If it makes the app harder to use between jobs on a Tuesday afternoon, it doesn't go in.
- 02
Mobile first
You're on site, in the van or on the phone to a customer. Every screen is built for a thumb before it's built for a mouse.
- 03
Your data is yours
Your customers, quotes and invoices belong to you. SortedMate doesn't sell them or share them, and you can export or delete them whenever you like.
- 04
Fair pricing, free to start
Start on the free plan and stay on it as long as it does the job. Pay when you need more. No contract, no hidden fees.
The person behind it
Built by Josh, in the North West of England
SortedMate is built by Josh, a developer in the North West who also builds websites for trade businesses. That's where the app came from: the same admin problems kept turning up at every business he worked with.
There's no sales team and no support desk. When you email hello@sortedmate.com or use the contact page, the reply comes from the person who wrote the code.
Where things stand
What's live and what isn't
We'd rather you knew before you signed up. Anything in development is exactly that: not live yet.
Live today
- WhatsApp enquiry capture
- Itemised quotes with UK VAT
- Job scheduling and calendar
- Invoicing with online card payments
- Customer records
- Xero and QuickBooks sync
In development
- Native HMRC Making Tax Digital submission
Need something that isn't on either list? Ask. The roadmap is decided by what the businesses on SortedMate need next.
Try it on your own jobs
Start on the free plan, or poke around the demo first. No card, no sales call.
